Learn the symptoms of Mange and learn how to get rid of them fast!

Relentless itching and severe discomfort is only a couple of the miserable symptoms that can interrupt your pet's life every day when dealing with mange mites. While all breeds are susceptible, some are at increased risk. Some of the breeds in which demodicosis can be particularly common or severe are Old English Sheepdogs, Dobermans, Boxers, Shar-Peis, Shih-Tzus, and Lhasa Apsos. Immune suppression due to underlying diseases (such as Cushing's disease and hypothyroidism), or drugs (like steroids and chemotherapy drugs) may increase risk of a dog developing mange as well.

Demodectic (demo - demodex - Red) mange is common in short haired dogs. It would more likely be brushed off the fur of a longer coated dog before it could enter the skin. But still it may occur in longer coated breeds and these are even more likely to infect their puppies because all puppies are born with relatively short coats.
