Things to Know About Pet Ringworm
A little more Information about Ringworm:
Ringworm is a common name and is sometimes confusing since the disease is NOT caused by a worm, but rather by one of several species of fungi. More often than not, contaminated households, kennels, and catteries readily serve as a source of infection. Decontamination of these areas can be extremely difficult.
Ringworm is the most common infectious skin disease in cats and less rare in rabbits, dogs, and ferrets. It is caused by a fungus similar to the one that causes athlete's foot in people and it is transmitted easily by direct contact with fungal spores on hair, bedding, and soil.
